Bill and Melissa Campers, who are both former campers in the Big Sur, California area, say they are now getting into RVing after their trip was canceled due to the fire.
“We have no idea how to get back to where we were, but we have our fingers crossed for us,” Bill Camper, who was the only person to survive the massive fire, told Axios.
The couple has three kids, who all live in California.
“My son is not here right now,” Melissa Camper said.
“He is in the hospital.
But we are so thankful for all the help that we have been receiving.”
Melissa and Bill say they’ve been receiving a lot of support from other RVers, including some in the area, as well as a couple who drove from out of town.
“I think that there’s a lot more awareness in the community and we’re just seeing it from a personal level, I think, as the family is getting bigger and bigger,” Bill said.
